Fall Fun Around the Lake of the Ozarks
Fall is here, and Halloween is just around the corner. Your favorite seafood restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is conveniently located near lots of fun activities celebrating both of those. Below you will find a list of family-friendly things to do in the coming days that are close to home.
Pumpkin Patch at Hy-Vee Hallow in Osage Beach
Located in the parking lot in front of Hy-Vee, you will find a great family-fun area. It features a straw bale maze, old fashioned water pump duck races, a corn pit, seesaws, and a hay mountain. It's a wonderful photo opportunity for catching the kids having all kinds of Fall fun. You can also purchase your pumpkins, large squash, and mums while you are there.
Mecca Farms in Roach
Every Saturday and Sunday in October you can spend the day on this lovely farm. They are open from 10 am - 5 pm. You will enjoy hayrides, a petting zoo, a corn crib, face painting, a small corn maze, a big slide, concessions, and a pick-your-own pumpkin patch.
Haunted Hayride in Laurie
Friday & Saturday, October 23 & 24, the Laurie Fairgrounds will be the location of the 17th Annual Haunted Hayride. Proceeds benefit S.T.A.F.F. (Society for Treatment of Abandoned and Fractured Friends). It is $5 for adults and $2 for children 11 & under. If you take a group of 10 or more, you can call them for a special group rate. 573-374-2629
Howl-O-Ween at the Dogwood Animal Shelter in Camdenton
Saturday, October 24 the shelter will host it's Howl-O-Ween celebration for both pets and their humans. It will take place between 2 pm - 4 pm and feature a pet parade, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, lots of vendor booths and crafts, pony rides, a raffle, and more. There will be prizes for categories such as best Halloween costume, pet/owner look-alike, best kisser, longest tail, and a dog food pie eating contest. This is free to attend and everyone is welcome.
Halloween on the Bagnell Dam Strip
On Saturday, October 31, just up the road from the best lake view restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, plenty of fun is planned for kids and adults. Many business will host trick-or-treating for the kids from 2 pm - 4 pm, along with a costume contest. For the grown-ups, many spots along the Bagnell Dam Strip will be hosting costume contests of their own, along with specials and music, after 7 pm. Take the kids for afternoon fun, have dinner with us at JB Hook's, then head back for some costumed fun of your own!
The weather in the area is still gorgeous, giving you the perfect reason to head outside to some of the spots above and take advantage of it. If that Autumn chill decides to set in, the best restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks will be here with hot, delicious meals to warm you up.
