Steak For Dinner? Yes Please!

Image
Our Lake of the Ozarks steak and seafood restaurant has perfected many different recipes for a wide variety of delicious foods. One of the things that JB Hook's is best known for is serving up the most mouthwatering steaks in the area.  Every steak we serve is hand-carved, USDA choice or above, and aged a minimum of 21 days. Today's blog is dedicated to the marvelous steak options we have for you.  Why Eat Red Meat? While some may try to discourage you from eating red meat, it does have a place in a healthy diet. Steak contains many beneficial nutrients that are good for you. It is a wonderful source of protein, provides heme iron, which is easily absorbed by the body, and it's very high in B12. The best part, of course, is that it tastes amazing, especially the ways we serve it at JB Hook's! Paired with the perfect side dish, it's a meal well worth enjoying.   JB Hook's Steak Menu Savory steak can be found throughout all of our menus. The f

Tuesday, March 20, 2018, marks the first day of spring! Even though JB Hook's is open year-round, this season is special because it brings with it the chance to get back outdoors and enjoy nature while also enjoying your savory seafood and steak meals! The weather may still bring us a day or two of cold weather, but soon you will once again be able to utilize the outdoor patio at the Lake of the Ozarks' best steak and seafood restaurant . Are you as excited as we are?    Patio Weather Spring weather allows us to open our outdoor patio up once again. From that patio, you get a breathtaking, 14-mile panoramic view of the Lake of the Ozarks. You can enjoy a relaxing lunch or pre-dinner cocktails outside overlooking that amazing view.  Spring also brings the beginning of boating season, so there will be plenty of lake traffic to watch cruising by while you relax outside. It seems like after St. Patrick's Day, the lake area stretches, takes a great big yawn, and wakes u

The History of the Bloody Mary Cocktail

Image
One extremely popular cocktail (that we just so happen to be serving for only $3 on St. Patrick's Day this year at JB Hook's ) is the Bloody Mary. In addition to vodka, it's full of veggies and tastes great with any meal, especially brunch. Our Lake of the Ozarks fine dining restaurant got a bit curious about the origin of this classic cocktail, and here is what we discovered.  Bloody Mary History As with most popular food and beverage creations, more than one person has tried to lay claim to inventing the Bloody Mary. One of these tales may be true, or quite possibly a mixture of all of them tells the real tale.  The first story says that Fernand Petiot came up with the recipe in 1921. He was working at a bar in Paris called the New York Bar, later to become Harry's New York Bar, which was frequently visited by American expatriates, including Ernest Hemingway. It was also a popular spot for Russians that had escaped the Russian Revolution. This bar was known fo

The Lake of the Ozarks St. Patrick's Day Parade is always a popular event for people of all ages, and the very best place to watch it is in front of JB Hook's . That way, you can quickly get to the  best St. Patrick's Day party at the Lake of the Ozarks once the parade is over, which just so happens to be right inside JB Hook's! Join all of our other guests and make this party an annual holiday tradition.  Festive Food & Drink Specials We've been hosting our St. Patrick's Day celebration since about 1996. The parade passes in front of JB Hook's, so it's easy for everyone to gather together in or near our parking lot for that, and then come on inside to continue the fun. This year's parade is beginning a little later than usual, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 17, 2018, so you should be good and hungry once it's over! To cure that hunger, we'll be serving up a scrumptious Corned Beef and Cabbage Buffet beginning at 1:30 pm. The buff

When sitting down to a gourmet meal at the Lake of the Ozarks , there's only one thing that can seal the deal. A delicious glass of wine that is perfectly paired with your meal can take any choice from delicious to mouthwatering! At JB Hook's , we not only have a 5-star menu at the Lake of the Ozarks , but we have an extensive wine menu to choose from as well. Here are a few pairing suggestions to get the weekend started! The Manhattan - Electra Moscato "California" This pan seared pangasius filet is topped with sundried tomatoes, red onion, and fresh basil, while bathed in a sweet vermouth cream sauce. We think you would love to pair this dish with our Electra Moscato, "California." It's delicately sweet, refreshingly crisp, and has a bouquet of flowers that will pair ever so faintly with the bold flavors in the dish. The taste of peach and melon at the end are also a fine finish! Hook's Milan - Haras de Pirque Sauvignon Blanc "Califo
