What Are You Doing For Lunch? JB Hook's Has A Great Idea!

According to popular belief, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and people generally make a big deal about dinner too, but what about lunch? In our opinion, this midday meal is highly underrated. We offer the best lunch at the Lake of the Ozarks and an incredible view to enjoy it by. 


Those of us here at JB Hook's did a little digging, and we came up with a few interesting facts about this midday meal.  

  • Lunch was originally called "dinner," and dinner was referred to as "supper."
  • The word "lunch" is short for "luncheon" which is a meal typically eaten at midday. Those two words originated from the German "lunchentach."
  • Working through lunch can actually cause poor performance at your job, and often doesn't allow you to get your job done any sooner.
  • Leaving the office for lunch is a great way to break up the monotony and boost your energy for the other half of the day.
  • Skipping lunch is bad for your metabolism, can make you less productive, and stressed out.
  • We've been told that finishing your lunch with something sweet is a good way to fend off early afternoon cravings. (Our desserts are unbelievable!)  

We don't know why lunch tends to get overlooked, and often skipped altogether. JB Hook's loves lunch, and we've put together an amazing menu that will make you never want to miss it again. We open seven days at week at 11:00 am for lunch and serve it until 4:00 pm.  


SALADS
Our salads and soups are served with Lavosh crackers and smoked tomato fresh basil cream cheese. Salad additions include: Ahi Tuna, Grouper, Salmon, Mahi-Mahi, Shrimp, or Chicken. 




Greek Salad

Romaine lettuce tossed in balsamic vinaigrette topped with red onion, Kalamata olives and feta cheese.

BLT Wedge Salad

A quarter of a head of iceberg lettuce topped with bleu cheese dressing and crumbles, tomatoes, and bacon.

Gregory's Salad

Romaine and iceberg lettuce tossed in house dressing, topped with hearts of palm, tomato, onion, croutons & Parmesan cheese.

Gregory's Cobb Salad
Romaine and iceberg lettuce, tomato, avocado, bacon bits, hard boiled egg and bleu cheese crumbles with our Gregory style dressing and diced grilled chicken.

Caesar Salad

Romaine lettuce tossed in housemade traditional Caesar dressing, fresh shaved Parmesan and croutons.



SOUPS

French Onion
Caramelized onions in a beef and chicken broth with bay leaves and a touch of sherry, topped with croutons and melted Swiss cheese.

Salmon Bisque

Tender smoked bits of North Atlantic Salmon in a rich and creamy broth.

Soup Du Jour


ENTREES
Entrees are served with your choice of sweet potato fries, french fries, homemade chips, coleslaw, or pasta salad. 

Hooks Housemade Angus Steakburger
1/2 pound grilled burger served on a bun with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. Additions available are: Bleu Cheese, Wisconsin Cheddar, Swiss, American, Pepperjack, Avocado Slices, Sauteed Mushrooms, Sauteed Onions, Applewood Smoked Bacon, or have your burger blackened.

Mahi Po Boy
Deep fried Mahi-Mahi served on a hoagie with lettuce, tomato & Hook's Signature Bam Bam sauce.

Sirloin Bleu

Six-ounce cut of sirloin charbroiled then topped with melted bleu cheese and Tobacco onions.

Bruce's Panama Wrap
Grilled chicken breast chopped fine and then tossed with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, bacon crumbles and our Greek dressing, served in a toasted wrap.

Fish & Chips

1/2-Lb of hand battered Cod filet fried to perfection and served with coleslaw & raspberry chipotle sauce.



Catfish & Chips
A generous portion of catfish served with coleslaw, jalapeno hush puppies & raspberry chipotle sauce.

Ahi Tuna

Fresh Ahi Tuna steak pan seared, blackened or grilled to your liking.

Fried Shrimp
7 Large shrimp fried to perfection. Served with cocktail sauce.

Bam Bam Shrimp Wrap
Lightly battered shrimp drizzled with a sweet and spicy chipotle sauce, wrapped in a flavored tortilla with lettuce and tomato.

Buffalo Chicken Wrap
Fried chicken strips tossed in our spicy buffalo sauce, in a flavored wrap with romaine lettuce, Colby Jack cheese, and ranch dressing.

French Dip

Shaved Certified Angus Beef Prime Rib with housemade au jus served on a hoagie.


Crunchy Grouper Sandwich

A Grouper filet rolled in frosted flakes, fried to a golden brown and drizzled with honey served with a side of JB Hooks' raspberry chipotle sauce.

Pecan & Pineapple Chicken Salad
Chunks of white chicken tossed with pineapple, celery, red onions, diced red peppers and mayonnaise served on a bed of lettuce with crackers then topped with toasted pecans.

Grilled Chicken Club
Grilled chicken breast on wheatberry bread with lettuce, tomato,onions, avocado, Swiss cheese, applewood smoked bacon & honey mustard.

Hook's Coconut Shrimp
7 large shrimp encrusted in coconut and fried to perfection, served with Jezebel sauce.

Island Tilapia
Blackened Tilapia topped with mango chutney.


In addition to all of those delicious menu items, JB Hook's Shrimp & Oyster Bar is available, prepared while you watch in the bar area. We also offer an extensive Appetizer Menu during the lunch hours. Lunch overlaps a bit with our Happy Hours Monday-Friday and on Sunday, where 1/2-price appetizers and great drink specials are available.
