The 2019 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout - Fun On (& Off) the Water!
It's time once again for thousands of spectators to flock to the lake area for an exciting annual event - the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout! The main event is the timed races but there are also quite a few exciting activities to attend leading up to race weekend.
One of those events takes place on the historic Bagnell Dam Strip, just up the road from our seafood & steak restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. Today JB Hook's has the details about the Shootout on the Strip so you can start making plans to take part in the fun.
Shootout On The Strip

The Shootout on the Strip Meet and Greet is a family-fun event that is enjoyed by people of every age. Many of the boats that will be racing in the Shootout will be parked on the Bagnell Dam Strip from 5:00-10:00 pm so you can get an up-close look at these magnificent machines. You'll also be able to meet the teams behind these boats.
Boats will begin lining up along Highway 242 at 2:00 pm and then caravan to the strip about 3:00 pm. At this time, the strip will be closed to traffic so that everything can be set into place for the meet and greet.
The best Happy Hour at the Lake of the Ozarks happens in JB Hook's piano bar from 3:00-9:00 pm, 7 days a week. Join us while you're waiting for the boats to get in place for fantastic drink specials and half-price appetizers. (We also offer Happy Hour drink specials in the West Wing patio bar from 4:00-7:00 pm.)
Also on Wednesday, August 21, we'll have David Baker performing in the piano bar from 5:30-8:30 pm. Dinner service begins in the dining room at 5:00 pm, so you can even grab dinner before heading over to the Shootout on the Strip.
The Races
While you cannot see the racecourse from our fine dining restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, you will be able to watch the races with us on the TVs in both of the bars. Our 180-degree lake view will also allow you to watch all of the additional boat traffic cruising back and forth leading up to and during the Shootout weekend. It's an intriguing sight to behold and the uninterrupted view of the water from every room in JB Hook's offers you a scenic view while you dine.
The Shootout races will be happening on Saturday and Sunday, August 24 & 25. The opening ceremony starts at 9:45 am on Saturday followed by the first heats. The 2019 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout will conclude on Sunday with an awards ceremony at 4:00 pm.
