Thank You for an Amazing 2015!

2015 was another amazing year for JB Hook's.  We have an incredible group of people working here to make sure that everything runs exactly as it should, but we have become known as the best restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks thanks to all of our wonderful customers.  You are what makes coming to work each day a joy rather than a chore.

Over the past year we have been blessed with some excellent awards thanks to all of you.  These include:
  • 3 Silver Spoon Awards from Second Living Magazine
    • Best Steak & Lobster Dinner
    • Best Seafood Restaurant
    • Best Male Server - Rich Cordia
  • 2 Diner's Choice Awards for Most Booked Restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks from Open Table
  • Certificate of Ecxellence from TripAdvisor for excellent reviews from travelers
  • Ranked #1 out of 46 restaurants in Lake Ozark on TripAdvisor

Every time we earn an award because of what our customers have to say about us, it gives us the desire to keep doing our very best.  We promise to keep giving the best service at the Lake of the Ozarks in 2016 too.

Expect excellence from JB Hook's every day, plus a few fun surprises here and there along the way.  We have a $5.99 lunch special available daily from 11 am - 4 pm, and our chef creates the most mouth-watering dinner specials that you have to see (and taste!) to believe.  We feature the Lake's best Happy Hour Monday - Friday and on Sundays with great drink specials and a half-price appetizer menu.  You can even hear the fantastic Mike V. perform 3 days a week, along with a few of his friends.

Don't forget about our fabulous view!  There isn't a bad seat in the house when you dine at JB Hook's.  You can't beat our 14-mile panoramic view of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks.  Our floor-to-ceiling windows make sure of that, and when the weather's warm, it's even better from our balcony.

If you loved JB Hook's in 2015, thank you.  If you haven't had the chance to experience all that we have to offer yet, please join us soon.  We plan on making our excellent dining experience even better throughout the coming year.  The best seafood & steak restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks will remain so thanks to each and every one of the terrific customers that we have the honor to serve daily.  Happy New Year!

6 Signature Cocktails for Christmas from JB Hook's

Christmas is a time to gather together with family and friends to celebrate the season.  Food, drinks, and festive fun are had by all.  JB Hook's cocktail menu features many delicious drinks, and today we are spotlighting six that would pair beautifully with a holiday celebration.

Pomegranate Margarita

Pomegranate is a wonderful Christmas flavor, and you will love our margarita version. We mix together Herradura Reposado, Pomegranate liqueur, and Cointreau, then top it with sweet & sour.

Apple-tini
We simply love the green color of this tasty drink full of apple vodka, Apple Pucker, and Wild Olive Apple.  It looks so festive in the glass!

Sapphire Blackberry Collins
If you have a lady that loves beautiful jewels, maybe she would also love our signature "sapphire" cocktail.  It contains Bambay Sapphire gin, lemon juice, blackberry brandy, and is topped with club soda.

Creme Brulee
This is the liquid version of our popular dessert.  Vanilla vodka, Butterscotch Schnaaps, Irish Cream, and half & half.  YUM!

You don't have to be under the mistletoe to enjoy the next two JB Hook's Signature Cocktails, but it couldn't hurt!

Hooked Honey Kiss
A yummy smooch for the whiskey lovers.  Jack Honey, Tuaca liqueur, and citrus liqueur make up this incredible drink.

Hooked Kissed Martini
This luscious martini is crafted from Godiva White and Dark Chocolate liqueur, hazelnut liqueur, and the rest is our secret.  Sorry, you'll have to visit our Lake of the Ozarks lake view bar to enjoy this one!

You can find all of the ingredients for these delicious drinks at the store, but make it easier on yourself and come on over to the best restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks and let our bartender mix them up for you.  As a matter of fact, have dinner while you are here and skip the trouble of cooking too.  Enjoy yourself this holiday season and let us take care of you and your friends.  You'll need to come in after the holidays to spend those JB Hook's gift cards you got for Christmas, right?  Enjoy this Christmas, and have a Happy New Year too!

11 Fun Facts About Christmas

We have really been enjoying seeing everyone celebrate the holidays here at the best seafood restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks.  Our private party rooms have been host to some pretty fantastic celebrations already this year.  With Christmas on the brain, today we decided to share a few fun facts for your entertainment.  Here is JB Hook's top 11 list, because 10 simply wasn't enough!

1. The very first Christmas tree decorations used were apples.  This came from plays in medieval times about Adam and Eve.

2. Your Christmas tree is probably about 15 years old.  On average, that's how long they grow before being chopped down.

3. Every year, thousands of letters that are written to Santa make their way to Santa Clause, Indiana.

4. A few other festive U.S. city names are:  North Pole, New York, Colorado, & Alaska  - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania - Christmas Cove, Maine - and Christmas Valley, Oregon.

5. Male reindeer shed their antlers around Christmas-time, so all of the reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh must be female.

6. Because of the difference in international time zones, Santa Clause actually has 31 hours to deliver all of his gifts.  He sure can get a lot done with 7 extra hours.  Of course, he would most likely need to be moving at about 4,796,250 miles per hour!

7. Alabama was the first U.S. state to recognize Christmas in 1836 and Oklahoma was the last U.S. state in 1907.

8. If you spend the holidays in Poland, you may see spider webs on their trees. Spiders are considered a symbol of goodness and prosperity over there, and their legend states that a spider wove a blanket for baby Jesus.

9. We can credit Italy with beginning the tradition of giving naughty children coal in their stocking.

10. The very popular Christmas classic "Jingle Bells" was actually written to be a song to sing for Thanksgiving.

11. Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915, and today over a billion Christmas cards are sent every year.

So now you know!  That will give you a few fun topics to discuss at the next JB Hook's Happy Hour.  Make sure that you carve out a little bit of time to relax and enjoy yourself during all of the hustle and bustle of the season.  We have the best Happy Hour at the Lake of the Ozarks every Monday - Friday from 3:00 pm - 8 pm, and on Sundays from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  Join us for one, or a few, to celebrate the holidays.  Enjoy the season, and have a very merry Christmas!

Holiday Events at the Lake of the Ozarks

There are so many exciting things to do in the Lake area to celebrate all of the December holidays.  The best seafood restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, is all decked out in our Christmas finest for a joyful, festive feeling throughout every room in our building.  Just being in our restaurant will get you in the mood to do all kinds of fun holiday things.  Today JB Hooks has a few of the best events going on around the lake this December for you to enjoy.

Jingle Jog

Friday, December 11, 2015

The YMCA is raising money and keeping people active this year with their 1st Annual Jingle Jog.  It is $20 to take part in this 5K if you register early, or $25 the day of. They are even hosting a 2-mile walk if the 5K is more than you are used to. Afterwards everyone will enjoy music, games, and hot cocoa with Santa.

Lake Ozark Christmas Parade & Santa's Caravan

Saturday, December 12, 1:00 pm

Just up the road from JB Hook's, the annual "Christmas Magic" holiday parade will be making it's way across the Bagnell Dam Strip.  It will begin on Hwy. 242 at 1:00 pm and travel to the dam.  After the parade this year at 4:30 pm, there will be a caravan from Eagle's Landing to below the dam for a holiday bonfire.  It will feature hot chocolate with Santa, along with treats for the kids, coffee, refreshments, and caroling.

Christmas for Kids

Sunday, December 13, 2015

An annual event that is a community favorite is Christmas for Kids, which is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Ozark Coast and many Lake area businesses.  It's a special night out full of live music, dancing, and hors d'oeuvres, but that's not the best part.  The whole purpose of the event is to collect toys for Lake area children that would otherwise not have anything under the tree for Christmas.  It costs only $20 and a new unwrapped toy, or $40 without a toy, to enjoy this fun evening.  There will also be many incredible silent auctions items up for grabs to raise money to buy more toys.  This year's entertainment will be performed early in the evening by Shawn C., followed by Captain Geech & the Shrimp Shack Shooters.  For more information or if you would like to help in any way, visit the Lake Area Christmas for Kids website.

Deck the Docks Holiday Light Cruise

Another benefit is the annual cruise put on by Celebration Cruises, but this one is to help out our four-legged friends.  This tour of the area's decorated docks and lakefront homes raises money to help out the Dogwood Animal Shelter.  Keep an eye out for your favorite seafood restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks when you cruise by!  These tours always fill up fast, so don't wait long to buy those tickets.

Lake Area Community Orchestra and Chorale

Local musicians get together to make beautiful holiday music for everyone to enjoy.  These concerts have been going on all over the Lake area all month long.  All of the concerts are free and open to the public.  Here are the remaining ones this year.

ORCHESTRA
Sunday, Dec. 13 at 7 pm, Versailles Royal Theatre
Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 7 pm, Lake Ozark Christian Church

CHORALE
Sunday, Dec. 13 at 3 pm, New Life Nazarene in Camdenton
Monday, Dec. 14 at 7 pm, United Methodist Church in Versailles

Make sure that you stop by the best restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks before or after you make your way to these incredible celebrations.  Better yet, plan a little get-together with friends right here and caravan to an event together.  Right now all booked parties of 15 or more people at JBHook's will receive 15% off of the final food bill.  Our gift to you for spending a bit of your holiday with us.  Have fun!

7 Holiday Party Theme Ideas

This time of year there seems to be a party planned for every weekend throughout the holidays.  Sometimes it is difficult to make yours stand out from the rest.  JB Hook's has a few ideas listed below for some really fun themes to make your party memorable and fun.  Any one of the following celebrations would be perfect to throw at the best lake view restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks.

White Christmas Party

For those that are always dreaming of a white Christmas, make it happen!  While we don't encourage actual snow inside our Lake of the Ozarks restaurant, you can definitely throw a party that embodies the idea.  Sparkly snowflakes hanging all around the room, white tablecloths with a hint of shimmer, and white place settings with shiny silver flatware.  You can even go a step further and ask everyone to dress in all white!  Choose scallops or another type of white seafood, and a side such as steamed cauliflower or mashed potatoes.

Gingerbread House Competition

Provide the gingerbread and ask each guest to bring one topping and their imagination.  At the word "Go" everyone gets a set amount of time to create the most magnificent gingerbread house.  Have prizes ready for different categories: most beautiful, should be condemned, largest, most colorful, tastiest, etc...

Joy of Giving Party

There are lots of charities this time of year that are needing donations of toys, food, clothing, and more.  Pick one to focus on and ask all of your guests to bring items to donate instead of gifts for each other.

Grinch Party

This only works if you have a group of friend's with a good sense of humor.  Prompt all of your guests to bring a gift fit for someone that's been naughty rather than nice. Think bigger than a bag full of coal.  Maybe a book with the ending torn out, a box of chocolates that have all been broken open... you get the idea.  Anything ornery that will get a good laugh.

Christmas Carol Karaoke

The party always comes to life when the karaoke machine gets turned on!  Fill the playlist with every holiday song that you can find.  You may need to feature a few signature cocktails to loosen up the crowd enough to volunteer, but once someone braves that stage, they'll be fighting over the microphone all night long.

White Elephant Gift Exchange

All the fun of opening presents at no cost to anyone.  A white elephant gift is something that you already own but are desperate to get rid of.  You may end up with something that is actually useful to you, and if you don't, you'll have something to bring back to next year's party.

Santa's Workshop Party

This is a working event.  Order up a buffet of delicious appetizers for all to munch on throughout the party while they get some Christmas wrapping done.  Everyone brings their own scissors and tape plus a couple of rolls of paper to share with the group. After everything is all wrapped up, celebrate with dessert and a cocktail.

We would love to host any one of these parties in one of JB Hook's private rooms. Our Garden Room seats up to 35 people, and the Sunset Room can handle a group of up to 70 and includes a fireplace and private bar.  Both rooms include our incredible view of the lake.

Don't forget, right now we are offering a special bonus for booked holiday parties.  If you throw a party for 15 or more guests, we will give you 15% off of your final food bill!  Call us up today and get your celebration booked at the best seafood restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks.
