Marvelously Mixed Martinis From JB Hook's

James Thurber, an American writer, once said, "One martini is all right. Two are too many, and three are not enough." While we would never encourage anyone to overindulge in any alcoholic beverages in one sitting, you will want to come back often so you can try all of the amazing martini varieties that our bartenders have come up with. We only hire the very best mixologists at our Lake of the Ozarks fine dining restaurant

Martini Fun Facts
JB Hook's offers many signature martinis that each have their own unique ingredients. The original martini recipe was made with only gin and vermouth, and garnished with either an olive or a lemon twist. Today, most martinis are made with vodka, but they are not limited to only those two spirits. Garnishes come in all types now too, usually matching the flavor of that particular drink. Now, how about a few interesting martini facts.

  • There are three popular ways to order a classic martini. These are:
    • Dry - made with dry vermouth and gin or vodka
    • Dirty - a splash of olive juice added
    • Perfect - made with equal amounts sweet and dry vermouth plus gin or vodka
    • Gibson - garnished with a pickled onion
  • The Martini glass has been around longer than the actual drink it is named for. It was very popular to serve cocktails in during Prohibition.
  • It is acceptable to serve a martini poured over ice in an Old-Fashioned glass.
  • James Bond had it wrong! A shaken martini (called a Bradford) is delicious, but can cause the drink to become over-diluted from the broken shards of ice. Stirring is originally the correct way to prepare this cocktail.

The Mission of the March of Dimes
Prematurity is the #1 killer of babies in the United States. The March of Dimes is working to change that and help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. From polio to premature births, the March of Dimes has focused on researching the problems that threaten our children and finding ways to prevent them.

March of Dimes chapter staff and volunteers invest time and resources in local programs and activities in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, playing a vital role in improving maternal and child health in their communities. As respected leaders in the field of maternal and child health, the March of Dimes is uniquely positioned to partner with local and state public and private health care systems and organizations to enhance and expand the services available to women and their families.

Chapter staff and volunteers partner with local health agencies, community-based organizations, professional associations, hospitals and others to determine the most pressing maternal and child health needs and to develop a multiyear strategic plan that will positively impact the health status of communities. Staff and volunteers then work to enhance and expand community services, and to improve systems of care for mothers, babies and their families through leadership, educational programs and community grants.

The March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction is an annual fundraiser that is always in good taste! The gala showcases enticing culinary creations from the Lake of the Ozarks top chefs along with distinctive, one-of-a-kind auction items and experiences.

October is an excellent time to dine at JB Hook's because it happens to be National Seafood Month, and we just happen to serve the best seafood at the Lake of the Ozarks! Our menu is filled with amazing variations on all types of ocean and freshwater fish dishes.

Benefits of Eating Seafood
First and foremost, one amazing benefit of dining on seafood is the fact that it tastes fantastic, but that's not the only reason you should focus on these menu items when you sit down for a meal. There are lots of health benefits to eating a diet that includes fish. It is recommended that you have at least 2 servings of seafood every week for proper nutrition.

Most seafood is packed with omega-3 fatty acids. This particular nutrient is extremely heart healthy, can reduce blood pressure and depression, and may reduce tissue inflammation, alleviating symptoms of arthritis. Seafood is also an excellent source of protein, vitamins, and minerals.

Our Delicious Seafood Menus
No matter what time of day you come in to dine at JB Hook's, you will have a wide variety of choices to pick from. Our lunch, dinner, and half-price Happy Hour menus feature many mouth-watering seafood dishes. Below we have listed a few of our most popular items.

Bam Bam Shrimp Wrap
Lightly battered shrimp drizzled with a sweet and spicy chipotle sauce, wrapped in a flavored tortilla with lettuce and tomato.

HAPPY HOUR

Crunchy Grouper Fingers
Tasty strips of Grouper rolled in frosted flakes, fried and lightly drizzled with honey, and served over Raspberry Chipotle sauce.

We also offer savory steaks, pasta, poultry, pork, and more to tempt your taste buds.
