The Great Bagnell Dam Duck Drop is Coming to the Lake of the Ozarks

JB Hook's loves sharing news and information about fun events in the lake area that our guests might enjoy, especially when they happen near our Lake of the Ozarks fine dining restaurant. It's even nicer when those events take place in the name of a worthy cause. Right up the street from us on Saturday, August 4, 2018, The Great Bagnell Dam Duck Drop will take place below Bagnell Dam.

The Duck Drop
This family fun event is enjoyable for all ages. Thousands of rubber duckies will be dropped from helicopters into the Osage River below Bagnell Dam. For just $5, you can "adopt" one of those ducks to call your own. Better yet, "adopt" an entire flock and increase your chances of winning the grand prize!
The first duck to cross the finish line after they have all been dropped will win $5,000! The 2nd place duck will earn $1,000 cash, and 3rd place will receive a $500 Woods Shopping Card. In addition to those winners, 8 random ducks will also be pulled from the water to win $100 gift cards from HyVee, Panera, Andy's Custard, and Randy's Frozen Custard.

All of the funds raised from this event will remain local, distributed by the Ozark Coast Kiwanis Organization to the numerous non-profit organizations that they donate to every year. If you'd like to purchase some duck drop tickets of your own, you can get them from Kiwanis members or at the following locations:

  • Central Bank of the Lake of the Ozarks - KK Branch, Main Bank in Osage Beach, and Lake Ozark Location
  • HyVee Customer Service Center
  • Call Angie Barns at 573-348-8099

Family Fun Zone
You can also pick up last-minute tickets on Saturday morning from 10-11 am during the Family Fun Zone activities located at the Lake Ozarks Campground & RV Park below the dam. Wristbands for children of all ages are absolutely FREE and include access to all of the events and games taking place as well as the chance to win prizes. Some of the activities that you can enjoy will be:
  • Games & Prizes
  • Bounce Houses
  • Live DJ
  • Food
  • Shaved Ice
  • Dunk Tank

Activities begin at 10 am and run through 11:45 am. At that time everyone will head to the Duck Drop viewing area where the drop will happen precisely at noon. Once that's finished, the Fun Zone will be open once again until 1 pm. This is when they will announce the winners, but you do not need to be present to win.

Golf Tournament
One day earlier, on Friday, August 3, 2018, a one-of-a-kind "quacky" golf tournament will take place at the Ridge Golf Course at the Lodge of Four Seasons. This 4-person scramble begins with registration at noon and lunch will be provided. There will be a shotgun start at 12:30 pm and an awards ceremony afterward.
It costs $125 per person to participate. Your entry fee also includes a tournament goody bag plus 10 Duck Drop tickets (a $50 value.)  There will be hole-in-one contests, a $5,000 putting contest, plus many more contests and special events throughout the course. You can sign up by visiting The Great Dam Duck Drop website.
