Join Us Between Lake Race 2018 Events at JB Hook's
There are all kinds of exciting events going on in the lake area throughout the year, but the warmer months are filled with the type that can only take place on the water! One of these events is the upcoming 2018 Lake Race. The majority of activities, including the races themselves, are taking place just up the street from our Lake of the Ozarks steak & seafood restaurant, which means it will be easy for you to swing by and see us for lunch, Happy Hour, or dinner between racing events.
Festival of Speed
Thursday, May 31, 4-9 pm
This night is dedicated to going fast - in cars, boats, motorcycles, and more! There will be exhibits dedicated to each, and race teams that are already in town will be on site for visitors to meet. All this will take place at the Big Thunder Showroom on Bagnell Dam Blvd. Parking and race team staging will be at the old Staples building, which is currently being remodeled into an additional Big Thunder showroom. Shuttles will run from 4-9 pm to take everyone back and forth.
The best Happy Hour at the Lake of the Ozarks happens at JB Hook's Sunday-Friday in our bar area from 3-7 pm, just a short way up the road from this event. Join us for great drink specials and half-price appetizers before you head over there, or a delicious dinner when you're done. Al Jolly will be entertaining our crowd from 5:30-8:30 pm too.
Street Party
Friday, June 1
This is where race fans can experience everything unique and exciting about Lake Race up close and personal. Race teams will have their boats parked and on display on the historic Bagnell Dam Strip. (This is even closer to JB Hook's than the other event, and we've got Drew Stevens performing in the bar area from 5:30-8:30 pm this evening!)
The lower portion of the Bagnell Dam Strip will be closed to traffic beginning at 9 am on Friday morning. All parking will be at the campground below the dam, and shuttles will begin at 5 pm, at the official beginning of the Street Party, throughout the weekend.
Race Day
Saturday, June 2
The Lake Race is powerboat racing at its absolute finest! Opening ceremonies begin at 10:40 am, with racing starting promptly at 11 am. Races will take place until all heats are complete, which should be around 5 pm. That's perfect timing for you to head on over to JB Hook's to enjoy Drew Stevens on stage again from 5:30-8:30 pm, and maybe even watch the boat traffic leaving the race from our breathtaking 14-mile panoramic lake view.
The Lake Race will be broadcast on TV, so we'll be sure to have our televisions tuned in so you don't miss a minute of the action while you're hanging out with us at JB Hook's in the air conditioning!
