2020 Shootout at the Lake of the Ozarks!

The official Lake of the Ozarks Shootout events begin today! JB Hook's loves what this incredible event bring to the community. Not only does it bring people far and wide to race in and watch the largest unsanctioned boat race in the United States, but it also donates hundred of thousands of dollars to local charities every year.

If you want to have a great time at the Lake of the Ozarks, you HAVE to check out this unique event at the Lake. And don't forget, for the best food at the Lake of the Ozarks, come visit JB Hook's!

How Did the Shootout Begin?

Many years ago (32 to be exact), this event was called the Lake Rescue Shootout. The event held races to see whose boat at the Lake of the Ozarks was the very fastest. Even then, the event was all about the community. It's other purpose was to raise funds for the local fire departments to help support them in their water rescue efforts throughout the year.

As the event has grown, it has come to be known simply as "The Shootout" or the "Lake of the Ozarks Shootout." The fastest boats reach a remarkable 200 miles per hour during the races. You won't want to miss seeing this!

Pre-Shootout Activities

Mini Shootout, August 21st-23rd

The Mini Shootout is a fun event the week before the big race. Remote-controlled boats are built to look just like the massive powerboats that race in the main Shootout event. In fact, these remote boats often reach 100 miles per hour, which is faster than some of the big boats on race day! The Meet and Greet will be at Bridal Cave, and the official race on Saturday will be at Ha Ha Tonka Springs Cove.
