Fun On (& Off) the Water - the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout
The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout brings thousands of spectators to the lake area every year to enjoy watching some of the fastest boats compete for the title of "Top Gun." The main event is the timed races taking place over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, August 25 & 26. Leading up to that, there lots of different fun events all around town, including the "Shootout on the Strip," which happens to take place just up the road from JB Hook's!
Shootout on the Strip
Wednesday, August 22
Everyone gets a chance to check out the amazing Shootout racing boats, as well as meet the teams behind those boats, during the Shootout on the Strip. Boats will begin lining up on Hwy. 242 at 2 pm on Wednesday afternoon, and around 3:45 pm they will caravan to the historic Bagnell Dam Strip. There, they'll park and get ready for the crowds to get a real up close and personal look at these magnificent machines out of the water.
The Happy Hour at our Lake of the Ozarks bar & restaurant runs from 3-7 pm in our bar area. That means you can enjoy a cocktail and some half-price appetizers here while you wait for the boats to get into place. Once you're done enjoying the show, come back to JB Hook's to enjoy the music of Al Jolly, who will be performing in our piano bar from 5:30-8:30 pm. After that, you might even want to stick around for a delicious dinner too.
Watch the Races on TV
The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout will start with opening ceremonies at 9:30 am on Saturday, August 25 followed by the timed races that will run until 5 pm. On Sunday, August 26, boats will race from 10 am-3 pm, with an awards ceremony taking place at 4 pm.
It's an amazing sight to see from your own boat on the water, but if you won't be venturing out on the lake to watch the races, you can enjoy them on TV right here with us at JB Hook's. Stop by for lunch, beginning at 11 am daily, and catch all of the action from the comfort of our restaurant. After the races, as well as in the days leading up to them, you might even catch a glimpse of some of the racing boats cruising the lake from our breathtaking 14-mile panoramic lake view.
If you happen to be in town for a few days during all of the festivities surrounding the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, be sure to stop by and visit us at JB Hook's. Please don't be discouraged by the current construction on our new expansion. Our Lake of the Ozarks lake view restaurant is still open 7 days a week beginning daily at 11 am for lunch, dinner, and everything in between!
