The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout brings thousands of spectators to the lake area every year to enjoy watching some of the fastest boats compete for the title of "Top Gun." The main event is the timed races taking place over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, August 25 & 26. Leading up to that, there lots of different fun events all around town, including the "Shootout on the Strip," which happens to take place just up the road from JB Hook's ! Shootout on the Strip Wednesday, August 22 Everyone gets a chance to check out the amazing Shootout racing boats, as well as meet the teams behind those boats, during the Shootout on the Strip. Boats will begin lining up on Hwy. 242 at 2 pm on Wednesday afternoon, and around 3:45 pm they will caravan to the historic Bagnell Dam Strip. JB Hook's Legendary Steaks & Seafood has some exciting news to share... we are expanding our  Lake of the Ozarks fine dining restaurant ! You've undoubtedly noticed the construction equipment and work going on outside, and today we're going to give you some information on the exciting things to expect once all of the new construction is finished. Through the Years The Lake of the Ozarks seafood & steak restaurant that you know and love today was originally opened in 1978 by Dave and Phillis Marose as Captain Hook's . A few years down the road the building was purchased by Dwayne and Donna Steele, who changed the name to Krazo's . It wasn't until 1995 that the restaurant was purchased by Bruce Elliott and John LaFata. They renamed the establishment as JB Hook's Great Ocean Fish & Steaks . August is Family Fun Month, and the lake area is most definitely a wonderful place to bring the family for a little fun. While you are in town, consider bringing everyone to our lake view restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks for lunch or dinner.
