Happy National Rosé Day!
June 12th is the official National Rosé Day in the United States! Are you in love with rosé? Then today's blog is for you! JB Hook's is known for our massive selection of delicious white and red wines. What you might not know is that we also have a great selection of rosé wines on our list. Keep reading to learn all about rosé, how they pair, and the menu of rosé wines you can try at JB Hook's!
What is a Rosé?
Rosé wine is not a mixture of red and white wine! Rosé is actually made with red grapes and comes in varying colors of pink depending on how long the red grape skins have contact with the liquid during the maceration process. In fact, they are only macerated for a few hours to one day, as opposed to the standard one week to one month for red wines.
What Kind of Grape is Used?
Some people think that rosé is made from a particular type of grape, but it can actually be made with any kind of red grape. According to usualwines.com, the most common grapes used to make rosé are grenache, sangiovese, syrah, mourvèdre, carignan, cinsault, and pinot noir.
Pairing a Rosé
Because of the wide variety of flavors and the bright and typically fruity profile, rosé wines actually pair pretty well with almost anything. They pair especially well with the seafood dishes at JB Hook's!
