Celebrate National Seafood Month At JB Hook's!
The entire month of October is dedicated to one of our favorite things - seafood! JB Hook's takes pride in preparing and serving the best seafood at the Lake of the Ozarks for lunch, dinner, and "snack-time" in between those two meals. ("Snack-time" of course, falls right in line with our incredible Happy Hour!)
Today we are going to share a few reasons why eating seafood on a regular basis is a wonderful (and delicious) idea. After that, we'll give you a look at the terrific items we serve daily from our Shrimp & Oyster Bar and the seafood appetizers we offer. Next week's blog will be reserved for our lunch options followed by another week all about our fantastic dinners. All of that reading about seafood is an excellent start to National Seafood Month, but make sure that you come in and actually eat some too!
Seafood - A Healthy Dining Choice
There are a lot of different foods that fall under the "seafood" category, and most have many wonderful health benefits when you dine on them. It is recommended by the American Heart Association that everyone eat a variety of fish at least twice a week. Seafood is low in fat, extremely nutrient-rich, serves as an excellent source of protein, vitamins, and minerals, and contains high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids.
The many essential nutrients you get from eating seafood do many different good things for your body. The omega-3 fatty acids, in particular, are good for heart health and have been proven to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events like arrhythmias, strokes, and heart attacks. These also help to ease the pain of tender joints, boost your brainpower, have a positive effect on your skin, improve your immune system, and even fight depression. Those omega-3 fatty acids in conjunction with the other nutrients do a lot to do your body good!
