2 "Salute to Veterans" Events This Weekend
The wonderful men and women that voluntarily defend our country and everything that it stands for are very important to us. JB Hook's is not alone in the pride we feel for these wonderful Americans. The lake area has a couple of family friendly events this weekend honoring our veterans.
Hot Summer Nights - "Vettes For Veterans"
The final Hot Summer Nights for 2016 will be taking place this Friday, September 9, on the historic Bagnell Dam Strip, just up the road from your favorite Lake of the Ozarks fine dining restaurant. According to the event's Facebook page, there are already 76 Corvettes signed up to parade the strip, each carrying a veteran, and they expect to have more signed up before the weekend! This annual patriotic parade will begin at 6 pm, so you will want to make sure you have your spot to watch the parade well before that time. Flags will be passed out to onlookers to wave proudly during during the procession.
In addition to the incredible salute to the veterans, you can expect all of the classic fun and excitement that this monthly summer event brings along with it. Classic cars, live music, street performers, a dance party, and so much more. This is your last chance to enjoy Hot Summer Nights until 2017, so don't miss it!
Lake of the Ozarks Air Show
The annual air show saluting our military at the Camdenton Memorial Lake Regional Airport is happening this Saturday, September 10. (A rain date of Sunday, September 11 has been set up, but shouldn't be necessary this year.) The day will begin with a veterans breakfast between 7:30-9:30 am. Vendor booths at the air show will be open from 10 am - 4 pm, as well as many displays and a kid's zone.
Following the opening ceremony at 10 am, there will be performances, presenting of the colors, and a Veterans Memorial Monument Dedication. Then, at 11 am, a wide variety of exciting acts, both in the air and on the ground, will take place all day long. There is even a Ping Pong Ball Drop for the kids to win big prizes.
You may park at Camdenton High School and ride the free shuttle to the airport, or you can park at the airport for $10 per vehicle. No outside coolers, food, or beverages are allowed, but you are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to utilize while enjoying the show.

Our Lake of the Ozarks seafood restaurant is the perfect place to either make a pit stop before Hot Summer Nights or enjoy a nice dinner after the Lake of the Ozarks Air Show. Happy Hour will be going on Friday from 5:30-8 pm, and the Michael V. Band will be performing in the bar area. Dinner service begins nightly at JB Hook's at 5 pm. Perfect timing for an early dinner after a full day at the air show. We want to send a great big thank you out to all of our military, and we hope that everyone enjoys the wonderful events taking place this weekend.
