We are lucky enough to live in an area that not only hosts the most fun and exciting events at the Lake of the Ozarks, but many of them are also thrown to benefit very worthy causes. The Great Bagnell Dam Duck Drop is one of those events, and it takes place right up the road from JB Hook's .  There is something fun for the entire family to enjoy at the Great Bagnell Dam Duck Drop. There is a golf tournament on Friday, and Saturday includes a family fun zone and the unbelievable sight of thousands of rubber duckies being dropped into the Osage River below Bagnell Dam.  All of the funds raised remain in the area and are distributed among a long list of local non-profit organizations through the Ozark Coast Kiwanis Organization.  Get Your Duck Drop Tickets! Both as a side or as a main dish, this delicious salad is a popular item at JB Hook's . You have most likely ordered it quite a few times over the years, but probably haven't thought much about where this tasty creation originated. Well, you may be surprised to find out that the most popular origin story states that the recipe originated in Mexico. Mexico? An Italian immigrant named Caesar Cardini came to America with his brother Alex after World War I. They lived in San Diego, California, but operated a restaurant in the early 1920's in Tijuana to avoid the restrictions brought about by prohibition.  According to Caesar's daughter, Rosa, her father invented this dish for a busy Fourth of July crowd after they began running out of supplies in the kitchen. The award-winning Hot Summer Nights on the historic Bagnell Dam Strip take place on the second Friday of every month, all summer long, right up the road from our Lake of the Ozarks seafood restaurant . There are three more of these incredible events happening this year, including one big 50th anniversary celebration.  Start Your Night With Us JB Hook's is the perfect place to stop before all of the fun on the strip gets started.
