Holiday Events at the Lake of the Ozarks
There are so many exciting things to do in the Lake area to celebrate all of the December holidays. The best seafood restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, is all decked out in our Christmas finest for a joyful, festive feeling throughout every room in our building. Just being in our restaurant will get you in the mood to do all kinds of fun holiday things. Today JB Hooks has a few of the best events going on around the lake this December for you to enjoy.
The YMCA is raising money and keeping people active this year with their 1st Annual Jingle Jog. It is $20 to take part in this 5K if you register early, or $25 the day of. They are even hosting a 2-mile walk if the 5K is more than you are used to. Afterwards everyone will enjoy music, games, and hot cocoa with Santa.
Saturday, December 12, 1:00 pm
Just up the road from JB Hook's, the annual "Christmas Magic" holiday parade will be making it's way across the Bagnell Dam Strip. It will begin on Hwy. 242 at 1:00 pm and travel to the dam. After the parade this year at 4:30 pm, there will be a caravan from Eagle's Landing to below the dam for a holiday bonfire. It will feature hot chocolate with Santa, along with treats for the kids, coffee, refreshments, and caroling.
An annual event that is a community favorite is Christmas for Kids, which is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Ozark Coast and many Lake area businesses. It's a special night out full of live music, dancing, and hors d'oeuvres, but that's not the best part. The whole purpose of the event is to collect toys for Lake area children that would otherwise not have anything under the tree for Christmas. It costs only $20 and a new unwrapped toy, or $40 without a toy, to enjoy this fun evening. There will also be many incredible silent auctions items up for grabs to raise money to buy more toys. This year's entertainment will be performed early in the evening by Shawn C., followed by Captain Geech & the Shrimp Shack Shooters. For more information or if you would like to help in any way, visit the Lake Area Christmas for Kids website.
Another benefit is the annual cruise put on by Celebration Cruises, but this one is to help out our four-legged friends. This tour of the area's decorated docks and lakefront homes raises money to help out the Dogwood Animal Shelter. Keep an eye out for your favorite seafood restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks when you cruise by! These tours always fill up fast, so don't wait long to buy those tickets.
Local musicians get together to make beautiful holiday music for everyone to enjoy. These concerts have been going on all over the Lake area all month long. All of the concerts are free and open to the public. Here are the remaining ones this year.
